Revelation 3:20 says, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”
Jesus does not force His way into our lives. He could—but He does not. Instead, He stands at the door and knocks. He waits for permission. Why? Because permission means the heart is open. And an open heart is ready to receive love, truth, and transformation.
This message isn’t just for those who have never known Jesus. It is also for those who once welcomed Him in but have slowly started living like they do not need Him anymore. Life feels manageable. You have routines, plans, and backup plans. But Jesus is not looking to be a backup. He wants to be the center.
When we rely on ourselves, we miss the deep peace and joy that only come from walking closely with Him. And when we keep Him outside, we are saying, “I’ve got this.” But the truth is, we don’t. Not fully. Not forever.
Jesus knocks because He loves us. He knocks because He wants to be near us. And when we open the door, He doesn’t come in with judgment—He comes in with grace. He sits with us. He listens. He helps. He heals.
Whether you have never opened the door or you have just let it drift closed, today is a good day to listen for the knock—and open up.
Reflection: Have you become so self-reliant that you have stopped inviting Jesus into your everyday life? What would it look like to open the door again and let Him be part of your decisions, your struggles, and your joy?
