John 15:7 says, “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”

It’s a verse that sounds almost too good to be true—like a spiritual blank check. But Jesus isn’t handing out magic wishes. He’s inviting His followers into something deeper: a relationship rooted in connection and trust.

Imagine a vine and its branches. The branch doesn’t strain to bear fruit—it simply stays connected. That’s the picture Jesus paints. When someone remains in Him—through prayer, Scripture, and daily dependence—they begin to want what He wants. Their desires shift. Their prayers align with His heart.

It’s not about saying the right words or checking religious boxes. It’s about staying close. When His words shape someone’s thoughts, hopes, and decisions, they begin to ask for things that reflect His goodness. And He delights in answering those prayers.

So, this verse isn’t just a promise, it’s a gentle challenge to stay connected. Let His words take root and watch how prayer becomes less about asking for stuff and more about sharing life with the One who gives it.

ReflectionWhat does “remaining in Jesus” look like in your daily life? Are your prayers shaped more by your own desires—or by His words living in you?
