Acts 9:36–43
Tabitha, also known as Dorcas, lived a quiet life of service. She wasn’t a preacher or prophet, but a disciple devoted to doing good and helping the poor. When she died, the widows she had cared for stood weeping, holding the garments she had made. Her love had left a visible mark.
Though she may have seemed ordinary, Tabitha’s life reveals the extraordinary value of simple faithfulness. Peter may have raised her from the dead, but her resurrection was not the miracle that defined her—the true miracle was the life she lived: generous, compassionate, and full of purpose.
In God’s eyes, greatness isn’t measured by titles or recognition. It’s found in everyday faithfulness. The world may overlook quiet acts of kindness, but heaven celebrates them. A kind word, a meal prepared, a listening ear—these are the building blocks of a life that honors God.
You don’t need to be in the spotlight to make a difference. Like Tabitha, your service—however small it may seem—can bring life and hope to others.
Reflection: Where is God calling me to serve quietly and faithfully this week?
Prayer: Lord, thank You for using ordinary people to accomplish Your extraordinary purposes. Help me to recognize the beauty of small acts done in love. Teach me to serve without needing applause, and to trust that You are working through every faithful step I take. May my life reflect Your grace. Amen.
